March 21st is International Fragrance Day, and here at TheGiftofScent.Com, to say we love fragrances would be an understatement. From home fragrances to aromatherapy, fragrance is a way of life for us, and we want to help make your life a little more fragrant and fun with our home and travel fragrance products! This International Fragrance Day, I’m 100% in the mood for Spring! I’m excited about the warmer weather and already thinking about all the fragrances I want to use in my home and vehicle to really hit refresh for the season. Did you know we curate a Spring collection of products, including 4 seasonal fragrance oils? We do this for every season, but Spring has some of the freshest fragrances and fragrance products for getting the stale, winter energy out of your home. The Spring fragrance oils include Green Tea, Cotton Clouds, Wild Flowers, and Lavender Fields. I’m also loving the rest of the Spring collection: Clary Sage Essential Oil has a sweet, playful aroma that is perfect for Spring. I put a couple drops of Clary Sage Essential Oil on a felt replacement pad on my Floral Medallion Serenity ScentSlides Unplugged Portable Air Freshener and clip it to the visor to keep me feeling refreshed in the car. I use my FlashScent® USB Aromatherapy Diffuser in many different places at home and on the go, but my favorite way to use it is to plug it into my laptop while I’m working. The fresh aroma of Lavender Essential Oil helps me feel calm and serene, even when I’m working on a tough project. One thing I love about TheGiftofScent.Com is the range of fragrance products we offer. I can keep my home and car smelling fresh year around with everything from pure and organic essential oils and aromatherapy diffusers to wax warmers to fragrance oils and more. Along with the aromatherapy products, the Spring Collection also includes the wildly popular Branch ScenTrio® Warmer with Sweet French Lavender No-Melt Tart®. The special No-Melt Wax Tarts are cleaner, safer, and last longer than traditional wax tarts, and the Sweet Fresh Lavender fragrance will have you feeling like Spring truly is in the air…no matter what that pesky ground hog says. The final fragrance product in the Spring Collection at TheGiftofScent.Com is the fresh smelling—and fresh looking--Cherry Blossoms Premium Plugables® Home Fragrancer with Wild Flowers Fragrance Oil. Spring is full of special days and holidays that we often celebrate by giving or receiving flowers—Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, etc. I love the Wild Flowers fragrance oil because it instantly puts me right into the Spring mood, and the Cherry Blossoms Fragrancer is a beautiful way to freshen my home. As we’re making our way out of the cold winter months, I could really use a pick-me-up in my mood. I feel stressed from constantly shielding myself from the cold and from being holed up inside because the weather outside is so frigid. I never feel fully myself toward the end of the winter. I feel rough and negative—not at all vibrant. I’ve learned a lot recently about how stress can damage our bodies and cause harm to our immune systems. I’ve read about the energy frequency in the human body and the effect of aromatherapy on that energy frequency. Here’s a summary of what I’ve learned: Illness occurs when our bodies are vibrating at a low frequency, and stress lowers our frequency below a healthy frequency and puts us at greater risk of developing illness and disease. A healthy body frequency is between 62-70 MHz. When we’re stressed, our energetic frequency begins to lower until we are at a frequency lower than 62 MHz and we become ill. The food we consume has an effect on our body’s frequencies. Plants have high frequencies, while animal foods have frequencies that are significantly lower than 62 MHz. Since essential oils are the life blood of the plant and are distilled from plants, they too have high frequencies and using them aromatically can have a positive effect on our body’s frequency. An article on Nuworldbotanicals.com, called “Science Behind Aromatherapy,” describes the concept of body frequency and the benefits of essential oils: “According to researchers in Washington, using Tainio Technology, the vibrational frequency of essential oils is the highest of any natural substance known to man. Through the principle of entrainment the oil’s higher frequency will raise the vibratory quality of that individual. For example their technology has shown these frequencies:” Also, when we experience different emotions, our bodies vibrate at the frequency of that emotion. Negative emotions such as shame, guilt, apathy, grief, and fear cause our frequency to dip extremely low, putting us at risk of developing illnesses. Positive emotions, such as peace, joy, gratitude, and hopefulness, cause our bodies to vibrate at a higher frequency (hence the term “vibrant” to describe a healthy human being—he or she is vibrant because he or she is vibrating at a higher frequency). Studies have shown that essential oils can help raise the energetic frequencies of our bodies out of a state of stress and into a positive frequency that can help us function at a healthy level. Essential oils have much higher frequencies than anything else—even higher than the plants they are distilled from because essential oils are highly concentrated forms of the plant’s essence (hence the term “essential”—essential oils are the essence of plants). Simply breathing them in as diffused vapors can help raise our body’s frequency to a healthy vibration above 62MHz. As Nuworldbotanicals.com says, “The measured frequencies of essential oils have been shown to go as high as 320 MHz as seen with Rose oil! Lavender has a frequency of 118 MHz…Oils entrain the cells of the body to increase their vibratory rate.” With that idea in mind, I diffuse essential oils to help me raise my body’s frequency whenever I’m feeling a negative emotion and want to combat that stress and the tax it can take on my body. Use these Belle Aroma essential oil combinations below in your ultrasonic diffuser, such as the Bamboo Lantern or the Wood Grain Orb, or take them on the go with the FlashScent® USB Diffuser. You’ll feel vibrant in no time with these essential oil diffuser blends! Happy Spring everyone. Kate for TheGiftofScent.Com. Via https://www.thegiftofscent.com/aroma-diffusers/essential-oils-for-your-mood-energetic-frequencies-our-health/ If you live anywhere north of U.S. Interstate 80, which runs across the country, you know it hasn’t stopped snowing for months. Nor has it melted. And with snow and the cold it brings, irregular weather patterns bring wind. A lot of it. If you live in the Midwest, the windiest states in the U.S., you know that windy weather is always available. And this blog is for you. It appears the Netherlanders have a philosophy of walking head-on into the wind to relieve stress. Without knowing the Dutch have a name for it, I have one girlfriend (only one) that will walk into the wind with me. We like to imagine all of that full frontal wind is buffing us into a facial. Sometimes the wind gets so strong where we live that it blows our hair straight back, to the point that we aren’t even moving forward. We’re teeth gnashing, yelling at the wind, like “c’mon is that all you got?!” Then we give into it, and walk backwards for relief. “Uitwaaien” is the Dutch word for walking straight on into the wind. The Netherlands is near the sea and flat. With not many obstacles to hold the wind back, there’s a lot of it. Scandinavians are among the happiest people in the world, some social scientists say, so it’s no wonder that walking into the wind has various names around those countries. Capitalize on what you have most of, give it a name and turn it into a plus. The very best part of “uitwaaien”, (pronounced “out vahyn”; no English equivalent. If you know someone named Vaughan, you can have some fun with this word.) …is coming back indoors where you can “hygge”, (pronounced “hoo-guh”), also a Dutch word for getting cozy, with a fire, hot cocoa and a blanky. You get the picture. We’re working up to the origin of “hug.” When I’m “hygge-ing”, I turn on my air diffuser. Time for some luscious lavender essential oil after having conquered the elements, and calling it “exercise.” Yay team! Or in the event, I’m feeling recharged and renewed from the elements, I’ll use peppermint essential oil in my air diffuser to keep things rolling. Taking the middle road, there’s the essential oils of clary sage, or ylang ylang. Add a few drops in a water-based diffuser, and its hygge time, with cache. All of these essential oils and the Nordish style essential oil bamboo cube diffuser can be found at The Gift of Scent. A regular routine of this and you can join the Danes and Netherlanders as among the happiest people in the world. After all, life is a study in contrasts. Conquer the elements and you’re ready for whatever is supposed to be next! Now go. Against the wind! Jean VanGrey for TheGiftofScent.com Via https://www.thegiftofscent.com/collections/uitwaaien-and-hygge-for-your-well-being-walk-into-the-wind-then-cozy-up/ This year, I can’t WAIT for Spring to arrive. It has been a long, cold winter. After the holiday cheer and the new year refreshing and the cozy-by-the-fire feelings wore off, my home felt heavy with cold, negative energy. I enjoy snow and the chill in the air for a few weeks—or even a few months—but where I live, when the wind chill turns frigid and it’s snowing every other day, I’m sick of it (and seriously thinking about moving south) by the time the month of March arrives. And being sick of the weather always makes me feel grumpy, cooped up, and pessimistic. When the first day of Spring finally rolls around this month, I’m planning to deep clean and freshen everything in my home. Rather than buy a bunch of heavy-duty chemical cleaners that smell too strong and make me feel like I have to wear a gas mask just to use them, I’m simply going to use Belle Aroma® Essential Oils with my regular cleaners to add a little boost to my cleaning routine and clear out that stale winter energy.
Trash Cans: After a few months of heavy comfort food, my trash can smells stale and gross. I clean it out as normal, but once it’s clean, I put a couple drops of Sweet Orange or Lavender Essential Oil on a paper towel and put it in the bottom of the trash can before I put the new garbage bag in. The essential oil helps keep the can smelling fresher longer. Refrigerator: My refrigerator is also smelling a little musty. Put a few drops of Sweet Orange or Lemongrass essential oil on the felt pad in your ScentSlides Unplugged and put it in your fridge door to refresh it. Mop: When you need to get all the snow, salt, and sand off your floors, don’t forget to add some essential oil for a super refresh. After testing the oil and cleaning solution on a small area to ensure it doesn’t discolor the flooring at all, add a couple drops of Sweet Orange or Lemongrass essential oil to your floor mop to give your floors a little shine and a refreshing aroma. (Note: When using essential oils, be sure to keep animals and children off the floors until they are completely dry.) Room Spray: Spray away that negative energy! Get a glass spray bottle, fill most of the way with water, and add 10 drops of your favorite essential oil to spray around the room for an essential oil air freshening spritz. Be sure to use a glass bottle, as plastic can be corroded by essential oils. Laundry: Refresh your laundry by putting a couple drops of your favorite essential oil (I like Lavender, Clary Sage, or Rose Geranium) on your wool dryer balls before you throw them in the dryer with your clothes! They’ll come out smelling fresh and lightly fragrant. Sink and Disposal: I always notice a little bit of a sulfur aroma in my sinks as everything starts to thaw out in the Spring. I just put a few drops of Sweet Orange, Lavender, or Peppermint in each drain to refresh it. And to clean your sinks, sprinkle baking soda into the sink, put a few drops of essential oil on top of the baking soda, and scrub the sinks with a damp sponge! The baking soda and essential oil combo neutralizes odors and the scrubbing action of the gritty baking soda helps remove any scum build-up in the sink and drain. Clear out that negative winter energy with essential oils! Happy (almost) Spring, everyone! Kate for TheGiftofScent.Com. Via https://www.thegiftofscent.com/aroma-diffusers/spring-cleaning-with-essential-oils/ When you’re living in a small, downtown apartment (like I am), you might assume you don’t need much in the way of home fragrance products to keep your small space smelling fresh. But what I’ve discovered after years of living in an apartment is that the smaller the space, the more need there is for home fragrance products because a small space puts you in closer proximity to all things smelly! P-U! Gym clothes in the hamper, outerwear in the closet with smelly pits, the rug the dog loves to sleep on, a stale-smelling trash can, the musty kitchen sink and disposal, the bathroom (just in general), your husband’s rank shoes…If your sense of smell is intact, you smell all of those nasties when you’re confined to a small apartment. #MaskFaceEmoji You could launder, scrub, and power-wash everything you own and everything in the apartment overall, but that takes way too much time and probably won’t keep the stink at bay for longer than a few days. Instead, you can curb your stinky apartment woes is with home fragrance products that keep things smelling fresh—even when they’re not so fresh—for days and months at a time! Here are the home fragrance products I use to keep my small, downtown apartment—and all its potential smells with two dogs and two people—smelling fresh: Plugables® Home Fragrancer First, I have a Plugables® Home Fragrancer right inside the front door of my apartment. Right now I’m diffusing Spiced Vanilla Fragrance oil for a sweet aroma that fills my living room and kitchen space. I often plug in two Plugables in the same general space (in two separate outlets) with two different, complimentary fragrances to really freshen the place. Here are some of my favorite combinations:
Aromables® Portable Air Freshener Aromables® may be in the vehicle collection of fragrance products, but they’re for more than just the car! I use the vent clip of the Ebony Forest Aromables Portable Air Freshener to fasten the freshener to a shelf in my closet. It offers a light fragrance to keep my clothes, gear, and other things in my only storage area smelling fresh. My favorite Aromables fragrances are Ebony Forest and Cottony Fresh:
ScentSlides Unplugged The ScentSlides collection is another product that was created with a vehicle in mind but is perfect for freshening any small space. I have one with a felt pad for essential oils that I use with Sweet Orange or Lavender essential oil from Belle Aroma® to keep my laundry closet fresh. I have another ScentSlides in my coat closet with a Mountain Air Fragrance Wafer to help keep my coats and shoes smelling fresh, and a third ScentSlides Unplugged sitting with my dogs’ leashes and harnesses. The nylon leashes can get a little smelly—especially in the winter when the pups go bounding through the snow drifts—but the ScentSlides helps keep those smells from overpowering the space. I love the Mountain Air and Exotic Teak Fragrance Wafers, as well as any of the Belle Aroma Essential Oils on the ScentSlides Felt Pads. I often put two drops each of two different oils on a felt pad in my ScentSlides Unplugged. Some of my favorite essential oil combos are:
PowerFresh® Throw n’ Go And speaking of smelly shoes, I love the PowerFresh Throw n’ Go pucks for throwing in our shoes when they’re sitting in the closet or by the front door. These small pucks pack a powerful fragrance punch and easily refresh even the smelliest shoes (even my husband’s work boots! ). Like with the Aromables, my favorite fragrances include Cottony Fresh, as well as the Sparkle, Not Sweat fragrance.
I love living in a downtown apartment. The space is small, but it’s such a fun environment. Thanks to home fragrance products from The Gift of Scent, I can keep my small space smelling fresh! And instead of cleaning everything within an inch of its life every month to keep the smell from overpowering the place, I can focus on other things…like visiting my favorite local restaurant or trying out the new brewery! Cheers to fresh-smelling, small space living! Kate for TheGiftofScent.com. Via https://www.thegiftofscent.com/collections/small-space-big-fragrance-home-fragrance-for-apartment-dwellers/ Even though I grew up with a very kind-hearted and loving father, he smoked cigars. There’s no way I found anything he did off-putting, but I disliked the smell of his cigar smoke. There’s nothing pleasing for me about it today either, though I do think of my Dad the moment my nose detects it. Now, the smell of roses is another matter. My first recognition of rose smells took place in the garden of a daycare center where I vociferously protested attending. While I find their smell heavenly, it takes me to a place of melancholy, so I never seek them out in a fragrance product. This phenomenon is predicted in the study of aromachology, the effects of smell on human behavior, feelings, and emotions. The study of aromachology suggests I can’t “unsmell” or “unmake” any of these smell associations, whether positive or negative. Coined in 1982 by the Olfactory Research Fund, now known as the Sense of Smell Institute, a division of the Fragrance Foundation, aromachology is not the same as aromatherapy, which purports some healing and holistic effects. Aromachology sticks to behavior and emotion. But, it’s a thin line. Aromachology’s concepts can be applied in healthcare to bring down heartrates, sports to relax players uptight about competition; and in building and home sciences to induce real estate sales, for examples. If you’ve ever tried to sell a house, your real estate agent might have suggested planting the smell of fresh baked cookies to please potential buyers. Tap into the sense of smell, and the prospect might smell and “see” in the house a place to call home. The City of New Orleans sprays orange citrus around the French Quarter to make an inviting smell. More shopping? Their new World War II museum theater uses a gun smoke smell to evoke an “you are there” response. I still smell it after 5 years. While the study of aromachology is maturing to enhance our everyday lives, you don’t have to wait to be your own aromachologist. You have the nose to know what shifts in behavior and emotions you experience when exposed to positive and negative smell associations. You know what pleases your senses and what brings on a desired feeling or behavior. You can tincture around with various natural oils and synthetic smell blends to find what interests you to learn its effects. The Gift of Scent e-commerce site is full of products to explore, mix and mingle for your own desired results. Aromachologists that we are, we’ve gotten some of the tried and true bundled as starter kits in the “Be You” series. If these don’t resonate, explore the “Recovery” and “Energizing” product suggestions highlighted in: Focus on Recovery this New Year and Energize Your New Year with Essential Oils. Or, for the really curious, and brave experimenters, you can pick from the bottled essential and fragrance oil blends. Make your own concoction to use in fragrance warmers and diffusers, also sold on the site. See what aromachology can do for you. Happy tincturing! Jean VanGrey for TheGiftofScent.com Via https://www.thegiftofscent.com/aroma-diffusers/smell-the-final-sensory-frontier-aromachology-might-get-us-there/ I don’t know about you, but I have an extreme aversion to bad smells…dirty socks, smelly sink drains, anything in the bathroom (lol): can’t stand them! And on Valentine’s Day, nothing kills the romantic mood like a foul stench in the air… I’ve used almost every fragrance product out there to get rid of any of the stinky aromas that crop up in my home, but my favorite by far is essential oils. I have an Ultrasonic Diffuser in each room. Ultrasonic diffusers work by atomizing and breaking water and essential oil particles into micro-molecules and diffusing them into the air. I just add water to the specified level, add drops of whichever essential oil I want to diffuse (or multiple different oils to create a fragrance blend), and press the on button to enjoy long-lasting, pure Belle Aroma® essential oils. This Valentine’s Day, say “I love You” with all-natural Belle Aroma Essential Oils from The Gift of Scent. Create an atmosphere of love by adding the essential oils in the quantities specified below to your Ultrasonic Diffuser for aromatic blends that will help keep the atmosphere all about romance. Parks & Recreation is one of my go-to, watch on repeat TV shows. When they took it off Netflix in 2020, I purchased the full series on DVD. It’s kind of an obsession. I often think about how much I’d love to have a best friend like Leslie Knope, a boss like Ron Swanson, or Chris Traeger for a fitness coach. Two of my favorite episodes in the whole series are the Galentine’s Day episodes, which are about a holiday Leslie Knope, the main character of the show, invents to celebrate the ladies in her life. Galentine’s Day is on February 13th, the day before Valentine’s Day. Leslie and the ladies in her life get together over brunch, talk about their love lives, and receive gifts Leslie made or purchased specially for each individual woman. Throughout the show, Leslie Knope inspires all her best girlfriends to do two things: 1. be authentically themselves at all times, and 2. to never stop working toward their biggest, most outrageously awesome dreams. February 13th, Galentine’s Day, is now a nationally recognized “holiday,” so in the spirit of Leslie Knope awesomeness, we want to help you treat your best gals to fragrance products that will inspire them to be authentically themselves and never stop working toward their biggest life goals. Today’s post is an ode to Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love.” Music is one of my favorite things, and as excited as I get for Christmas Music each year, I may get even more excited for love songs in February. Nothing beats a good love song. I think almost every artist in nearly every genre has tried his or her hand at writing the quintessential love song. Whether it’s a ballad or an upbeat, hopeful ditty, or a dramatic confession of eternal devotion, love songs are about one thing: showering the subject of the musician’s devotion with attention and adoration.
